Ayuntamiento de Alcoi invites you to participate in a momentous conference to be held on 12 March 2024, entitled “The Urban Sandbox of Alcoy: Potential for Innovative Agents of the Municipality and the Territory“. This event will take place in the Sala Ágora Oberta of the Ágora Building, located in the emblematic Plaza Ramón y Cajal in Alcoy, starting at 09:30h.
The event programme was carefully designed to offer a comprehensive understanding of the Alcoy Urban Sandbox, exploring what it is, its objectives and how companies and institutions can be part of this pioneering initiative. Alcoy positions itself as a smart and innovative space of reference, facilitating a unique public-private collaboration tool. This full-scale innovation laboratory allows companies, universities and research centres to test their products, technologies and business models in a real environment, marking the city as a vibrant testing ground for the exploration of new collaborative frontiers.
At the heart of this event is the keynote speech of Dr. Carmen Pastor Sempere, Principal Researcher at LegalCripto, who will share valuable insights on the Proofs of Concept (PoC) developed within the research framework “Present and future of cryptoassets regulation in the EU”. Her presentation will focus on how these innovations, supported by Blockchain technology, can transform the economic and regulatory ecosystem, not only in Alcoy but also at European level.

- 09:45 – Institutional welcome by prominent figures such as Ms. Teresa Riesgo Alcaide(Secretary General for Innovation), Mr. Juan José Cortés Vélez(Director General for Innovation) and Mr. Antonio Francés Pérez(Mayor of Alcoy).
- 10:00 – Presentation on the Value Proposition of the Alcoy Urban Sandbox by Mr. Pedro J. Ramiro Zafra.
- 10:20 – Discussion on how to participate in the Sandbox, including legal and operational aspects.
- 10:40 – Real experiences of companies such as Aguas de Valencia S.L. and PrimLab Global SL.
- 11:30 – Roundtables on strategies and technological advances in Sandbox projects, with the participation of experts and academics such as Carmen Pastor and Yolanda Bustos from the University of Alicante.
The day will culminate with a networking space where participants will have the opportunity to interact and share ideas, strengthening the innovation ecosystem.
